Qwell

Qwell is an anonymous, free and safe digital mental and emotional wellbeing support service for parents and carers. Qwell is accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychology (BACP) and the Qwell site is available 24/7, with mental health professionals offering live chat conversations Monday to Friday 12-10pm, and Saturday and Sunday 6-10pm.

1:1 support

Qwell can provide 1:1 digital support with counsellors and emotional wellbeing practitioners (EWPs) through live chat conversation, a real-time instant message conversation between service user and Qwell professional. After waiting in the chat queue, the chat will start, and the service user will be asked a few questions to allow the Qwell professional to discover how they can best support them and decide what to focus on. Live chat conversation is available Monday to Friday 12-10pm, and Saturday and Sunday 6-10pm.

Qwell can provide 1:1 messaging. This service is like sending an email, service users can send a message to the team, and one of Qwell’s counsellors or emotional wellbeing practitioners (EWPs) will respond. If it is outside live chat hours, or the service user doesn’t feel like live chatting at that time, they can send a message and the Qwell counsellors or emotional wellbeing practitioners will respond as soon as they can.

Online community support

Qwell can provide online community support through peer-to-peer forums. Qwell’s forum pages are designed to be anonymous, safe and supportive digital spaces dedicated to peer support allowing service users to discuss topics together in a facilitated environment. Forums can be on any topic, so long as they are approached sensitively. Service users can ask questions, share experiences and respond to others on Qwell forum pages. Forum pages are open 24/7, however, new posts will not go live until moderation has been completed.

Qwell can provide another way to interact with the community, including reading and writing articles on the site. While some articles are written by Qwell’s team of professionals, there are also opportunities for service users within the Qwell community to share their own lived experience through stories, articles and poems. All of which are moderated by the Qwell moderation team and are posted anonymously.

Personal Development Self-Help Tools

Qwell can provide access to personal development self-help tools. Service users can browse topics and choose an activity that feels appropriate and beneficial to them. Activities are interactive, private and accessible 24/7, allowing service users to access them whenever suits them. Qwell’s personal development self-help tools include Qwell podcasts, mood tracking, journalling and goal setting.

Moderation

Everything that is submitted to the Qwell platform is moderated before it is published. Moderation is conducted by Qwell’s moderation team of highly skilled moderators. Qwell’s moderators review all submissions to ensure they meet Qwell’s community boundaries and guidelines. If a submission contains information suggesting a user is at risk from themselves or others, Qwell would reach out with a message and escalate their processes appropriately as they have a duty of care to safeguard wellbeing. Some submissions may be edited, or not published at all, if they do not meet Qwell boundaries and guidelines. This moderation process ensures no bullying, harassment or trolling occurs on the Qwell site.

There are no waiting lists or referrals required to access Qwell’s service. Registration is anonymous, free and provides immediate access to services. Service users can share challenges with practitioners and/or community when/if they feel like it. They can explore Qwell’s resources, articles and activities and check in with Qwell whenever they need to.

Qwell’s service is fully mobile-accessible, service users can access support from smartphones and/or tablets 365 days a year, 24/7.
